Help Cystic Fibrosis Research

So, this weekend is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides fundraiser walk. My cousins have two cute little girls, both who have CF. As a family we have been able to see first hand the results of fundraising efforts that come from events such as this. Both girls have been approved for new medicines that were developed because funding became available through donors to events such as Great Strides. Both girls have seen significant improvements in their day to day living because of these medicines.
At Great Strides this weekend we have a family team, and still have a long way to go to meet the goal that was set for our team. Please check out the team page and donate whatever you can.  (The link is to my cousin's page, the mother of the two girls.)

You can also go to www.cff.org/great_strides/ and search for "Team Bella and Emma" or find a walker Claudia Wardle.

Thanks for all your support!

Today I think...

I realized today that I keep thinking about making a hot water bottle cover, but I just don't seem to ever get around to it. I use my hot water bottle year round, it deserves a nice cover...

Also, I need to eat chocolate more often. I went to Alvey's on the way home after work. Got me some chocolates, and they are now 50% gone. I'm worried about the rest of them making it through the night. Good thing calories don't count in the summer!

The Scandinavian Days Adventure

I underwent my first Market in almost two years this weekend. A horde of young unaccompanied Vikings walked by my booth a couple of times. The three year old scared me the most, he was all too happy swinging around his battle axe.

It wasn’t all that great. Because of the weather. It was windy, and my stuff kept flying away. It was horrible.

So, we’re going to have a list of Pro’s and Con’s. I’ll start with the Con’s so we can end with the Pro’s. Cause it’s nice to be happy when you’re all done here.

Con’s
     1.       The wind. It was killer. It blew dust and made my eyes hurt. Plus, my items got all dusty and dirty.
     2.       For some odd reason they had us set up on the Road.  Road Setup= No way to stake my canopy. I ended up borrowing some big bricks from the side of Uncle D’s house, hoping the entire time the house wouldn’t collapse because I took them.
     3.       Road Setup= dirty items. All the dust blowing around, from the road. Now I get to do several loads of laundry so everything is in saleable condition again.
     4.       It’s a small town, so they like small town prices. I have a feeling the majority of the people who came through my booth were idea stealers, not buyers.
     5.       Teddy still doesn’t have a home.

     Pro’s
     1.       The people next to me were fabulous, Davison Ceramics. They’ll be at Summerfest in Logan, Raspberry Days in Garden City at Bear Lake, and The Avenues Street Fair in SLC this summer. The husband reminded me of Dr. Harris that I went on study abroad with last year.
     2.       I was able to start out with the new business name.
     3.       I swiped cards on my phone, and they worked. I made more money that way. It also really entertained my dad. Who happened to sit at the booth for several hours keeping things on the table.
     4.       I made enough to cover costs. Amazing especially since I included gas and food for the first time in my costs.
     5.       I got a ton of ideas for new items, and improvements on current items.
     6.       The fishie found a home. It took the blankie with it. They are going to Croatia. Seriously.
     7.       I think I can handle more markets this summer. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to. But now I think I can handle it.

I’ll see you at more markets this summer!

Things I want to make for ME!

1.       Fingerless Gloves, a couple of pairs actually.
2.       Socks: the goal is one pair per month for the year. On my Pinterest it's known as "Happy Feet".  (I'm behind. Since there's no class or work tomorrow, we're going to see if I can get caught up. Or at least close.)
3.       A really really pretty sweater that everyone oohs and ahs over.
4.       Some more legwarmers. I didn’t have enough this last winter.
5.       A couple of hats too. It gets cold here.

A New, Unhealthy Addiction

I am currently taking a Language and Literacy in the Preschool Years class. I love kids books. Because of this class, and previous classes about Dialogic Reading, and kids in general, I now have a children's book wishlist that is hundreds (maybe) of books long.

I just ordered one off of Amazon.

Let the madness begin.

A bit about Me

1.       I’m really really close to graduating university in Early Childhood Development and Family and Community Services.
2.       I used to be a costume design major.
3.       If you can wear it, I can make it. (With the exception of shoes, but let’s be honest, I’d probably try to make them if you asked me to.)
4.       Given the time, I can read a book a day.
5.       I’ve taken care of other people’s kids professionally  for 8 years.
6.       15 if you count babysitting.
7.       I am obsessed with knitting websites.
8.       I told my dad the only way I would get an iPhone was if I could get a “Psych” cover for it. It arrived today.
9.       My Bucket List consists of Three Items. (We can talk about this one later)
10.   I have been ghost hunting. I got totally freaked out.

Hey...

So, I keep having this idea that I should blog. I even went as far as to create this blog through my gmail account a couple of weeks ago. And then I just sat on the idea a bit longer, because I’m like that. Thing is, who would really want to spend time reading what I have to say about stuff?

And here I am writing about nothing really. But, to become a good writer you have to write. Practice. That’s what it takes to create a style and feel that works for you. One day maybe I’ll get to it and write something really worthwhile. I figure a few little bits and bobs on a blog won’t hurt in the meantime.
